Cape Town was recently turned pink when the 2009 Cape Town Pride festival was held. The Cape Town Pride website (www.capetownpride.co.za) saw a huge increase in traffic during the past couple of months as a result.
Sapphire Dawn not only maintains this website but also hosts it, we had our hands full during the last weeks of February to make sure that our clients website was kept upto date and running properly. To top that Sapphire Dawn also ensured that many of the fliers and posters for the festival were designed and delivered to the printers and that email newsletters and fliers were distribuited for the client.
At Sapphire Dawn we were kept very busy in January and February, we were awarded the contract in June, to host and maintain the Cape Town Pride website. We are also responsible for the graphic design of their fliers, poster and other print and digital design. All bulk email communication is also done by Sapphire Dawn, this includes efliers, newsletters and anything else that Cape Town Pride may need to be designed and distributed via bulk email.
In the build up to the pride festival and parade we were kept very busy with designing email mewsletters and fliers for various events, also we kept the website up to date with all the latest information for the various events and news relating to Cape Town Pride.
During the festival we really got tested not only with the usual website updates and fliers etc. but we also had to ensure that even more newsletters were sent out as well as invitations to various events held by Cape Town Pride and their sponsors.
To test us even further the website saw huge increases in website traffic which we mointored for Cape Town Pride using Google Analytics. This allowed us to give the client valuable information relating to the type of visitors the website was attracting.
During the 10 days of the festival www.capetownpride.co.za saw a 90% increase in traffic to the website with the visits for the period reaching over 4000 vistors (an average 0f 150 vistiors per day) and nearly 10 000 page views. The Pride Parade day saw the visits peaking at 427 visits (387% increase).
These amazing figures were very exciting for us at Sapphire Dawn to see as we are also responsible for the Search Engine Optimaisation (SEO) of the website. Nearly 60% of the traffic that reached the website did so through search engines. This traffic increased by more that 20%. There was a 132% in traffic from Google this constituted 55% of the total Search Engine traffic to www.capetownpride.co.za.
It has been a hectic but exciting time for both Sapphire Dawn and for our client Cape Town Pride to see that our hard work in the months that built up to the festival and parade has paid off so well. And we were very happy to see some of the great feedback that we have received from people that have took part.
